What does the padlock on a profile photo mean?

A padlock on a profile photo means the member has one or more additional photos that you cannot currently see. It does not mean their profile or account is locked.

Profile photo with the private-photo padlock highlighted

  • Friends Only photos become visible to accepted friends. The member can also share their Friends album with someone directly.
  • Private photos become visible to anyone the member chooses to share their Private album with.

A padlock on an individual gallery photo marks a Friends Only or Private photo that you currently have permission to view.

The photo owner controls who can see their photos, so there is no general button to unlock them.
