Why is my card being declined?

Your card issuer may decline a payment because our business is based in the United Kingdom. This can happen even when we charge you in US dollars. Some cards do not support international payments.

What to try

  1. Contact your card issuer and ask whether it blocked a payment to a UK business. Ask it to allow the payment if possible.
  2. If your card cannot make international payments, switch to a card that can. Check its foreign transaction fees first.
  3. Add your new card by following How do I change my card?.

Using Privacy.com

Eligible US users can create a virtual card through Privacy.com funded by a supported US checking account or debit card. Privacy does not accept prepaid cards or credit cards as funding cards, so it is not a way to keep using an unsupported prepaid card. Review Privacy's funding requirements before you sign up.

Privacy's Personal and Plus plans charge a 3% foreign transaction fee with a $0.50 minimum per transaction. Pro and Premium waive this fee. Check its current international purchase fees and confirm the account permits your intended use.
